Trade program

Studio Castel’s trade/designer program is not for the faint of will. It is for those who demand materiality without apology, who reject the illusion of polish, and who understand that surfaces are not meant to be soft. This is a program built on the unyielding logic of the 1980s: bold, unapologetic, and unflinching in its defiance of the decorous. If you are a designer, architect, or contractor who operates outside the boundaries of conventional taste, this is your entry point. We do not cater. We do not compromise. We do not care if you like it.

Eligibility

The program is open to designers, architects, and contractors who have demonstrated a commitment to the unvarnished aesthetics of the 1980s. This is not a space for those who seek subtlety or restraint. We are looking for professionals who have a track record of deploying maximalist, confrontational, and unflinching design choices. Applications are evaluated based on portfolio rigor, client history, and a willingness to embrace the grotesque.

Sample Requests

Sample requests are processed through a memo system that demands precision. To initiate a request, send a detailed specification of the required sample, including dimensions, material preferences, and intended use. We do not offer vague or ambiguous requests. Once approved, samples are shipped within 10 business days. Lead times for production orders vary between 12–18 weeks, depending on the complexity of the request and the availability of stock. All samples are non-returnable and non-refundable, as they are not meant to be admired—only deployed.

Terms and Conditions

Orders are processed on NET-30 terms, with payment due within 30 days of invoice date. Late payments are subject to a 15% surcharge. We do not accept credit terms, partial payments, or any form of negotiation. All transactions are final, and no exceptions are made. Custom-print requests are evaluated on a case-by-case basis, with a minimum order quantity of 25 linear yards. Custom prints are not guaranteed, as they require approval from our curatorial team, who will determine whether the request aligns with the brutalist ethos of the program.

Parent Relationship

Studio Castel operates as a distinct entity within the Designer Wallcoverings family, which has been serving the design trade since 1996. This relationship ensures access to an extensive stock of 1980s-era materials, real samples, and a dedicated human presence to address inquiries. The parent company’s legacy provides the infrastructure for rapid fulfillment, rigorous curation, and a refusal to dilute the program’s focus. We are not a subsidiary. We are not a branch. We are an extension of the same uncompromising vision that has defined Designer Wallcoverings for over two decades.

Program Structure

The program is structured around three pillars: exclusivity, precision, and defiance. Exclusivity is maintained through rigorous vetting of applicants and limited access to stock. Precision is enforced through strict sample and order specifications, with no room for ambiguity. Defiance is the core principle, ensuring that every material, every finish, and every interaction adheres to the unyielding logic of the 1980s. There are no apologies, no explanations, and no exceptions. If you are not prepared to embrace this, you are not welcome here.

Support and Communication

Communication is direct and unembellished. Inquiries are addressed through a dedicated channel, with responses provided within 24 hours. Support is limited to the scope of the program and does not extend to design
